Acne medicine, my dermatologist has me on duac-with benzoyl and clynimicin in the morning, and retin-a @ night?

they are both creams, and also im taking minocycline pills, right now its 1 a day, i couldn%26#039;t take the 2 a day, but i will be soon. im wondering if anyone is on this too for acne, i%26#039;ve been on it for about a week, and i know its normal for itchy dry red skin, which is what i got, but i worry about the new pimples forming, is it cause of the make up i wear? my doc said i could still apply it, i just wanted to know if any of you are going through this or something similar?|||Do yourself a favor and buy one of my naturally made organic soaps. You will notice a difference after first wash. If you can%26#039;t afford $3, ask for a free sample on my website. A natural %26quot;cure%26quot; is best. The soap will not cure it but will neutralize it so your skin can heal itself if possible. Go to the soap section of my site. I see the dermatologist thursday , is there any specific things i should be saying about my penis condition ?

i had tests done from urology a month ago, because i went about having frequent urination - my bladder never seeming to empty - and pains in my bladder - but the tests done, all came back clear saying i will be reviewed again in 3 months..

im waiting for a follow up appointment with a dermatologist after the first one was abrupt and dismissive of the complaint.....told me it was nothing.

ive been checked out at the sexual health clinic months back who told me it was nothing, they couldnt find anything on the test......but to go to my doctor to maybe refer to a dermatologist.

the problem and concerns i have is regarding my penis, when erect, its only just about 6 inches or maybe just below.

plus the head of my penis is small, alot ive seen have a big mushroom , broad appearence........mine doesnt but is flat.

also the reason im seeing the dermatologist is because the skin covering the head of my penis is all torn and cracked.....the surface of the skin is all cracked......it looks very unusual.

normally the head of a male penis as a smooth baby skin appearence.

mine is all cracked, like little tears covering the head part.

the dermatologist said she didnt think it was a skin disorder, she didnt know if the cracks will eventually clear but said they might %26#039; reduce %26#039; in time..

meanwhile she reccommended i use simple emoliants to wash down below.

she also refered me to have pictures taken of the skin to be sent of to a specialist for more reccommendations..

i have to see the dermatologist again in a couple of weeks for the outcome of that..

im 30 years old now and im really anxious about this problem.....as a man i feel very inadequete and inferior..

i hope to god, i pray that the cracked skin will clear up in time.....the not knowing is really tormenting me.

can anyone offer me advise or hope about this ?

i have my forskin.......the condition doesnt hurt...im very sensitive down there.......i can get erections ok...

i have a forskin, but the skin covering %26#039; the head %26#039; of my penis is still all cracked and teared.

and i mean the head of my penis not the forskin - and there not just wrinkles that smooth out when im erect , the skin is actually cracked and fissured

btw - the cracks and tears on the head of my penis dont itch at all, they just feel very sensitive.

also i was checked for diabetes a couple of months ago the tests were clear.

i see her this thursday , to be honest im scared ill be dismissed again like past authority figures have been.

she would of had the opinion of the other dermatologist hopefully from london, where the pictures were sent off to.|||I am not sure but my husband had something very similiar. He went to many doctors finally a urologist in Miami was able to get him on some treatment that helped. He has it under control now but is unalbe to get an erection. I hope you get better. |||Wash your tool with warm soapy water, rinse it off. Dry it. Apply some raw shea butter(available at a health food store) directly to the head of your D-i_C-k. Gently massage it in. Resist the temptation to spank your monkey. Keep doing this for a couple of days, perhaps a week or two. The shea butter will help repair the skin integrity. Use the rest as a slap off cream. Pretty soon you will be back up and running, no problem.

The reason the dermatologist is writing your complaint off is because they do not want to look at , let alone touch, your pecker.|||I would recommend you go see a male UROLOGIST not a dermatologist. A UROLOGIST specializes in problems such as this and will be able to prescribe a course of treatment.

|||The one thing I%26#039;ve learned recently about health..is do not give up! Keep going until someone takes you sersiously, and gets to the root of the problem. It%26#039;s expensive, tiring, draining, etc. But if you are not pleased with this most recent Dr...move on, and find another.

Do research on the internet and find the best one for you.

I really don%26#039;t know what the problem is..but having gone through some health issues in my own family, eventually they will figure it out. Do not give up, or take one Dr.s word for it, that everything is okay, if your gut tells you that it is not.

Good luck!

Acne treatments from dermatologist?

Hi, I%26#039;m in my early 20s and just started having mild acne problems a few months ago, mostly whiteheads here and there on the cheeks. But it was getting frustrating so I went to the dermatologist last week and he gave me these creams to used:

-Benzoyl Perozide 5% gel (day time)

-Clindamycin Phosphate Topical Solution (day time)

-Retinoic Acid 0.1% cream (night time)

I guess I have very specific questions if anyone is familiar with the treatments above and experiences with visiting dermatologist in general:

1) He said treatment might make it worst before it gets better, what does it mean? And what is the time frame for the %26quot;worst%26quot; period?

2) And how long before I should expect to see visable AND touchable results?

I know everything takes time, but I would just like to know that what I%26#039;m doing will eventually lead to good results and I can get back to my life|||yeah... i understand.

It might get worse before it gets better. it depends on the medicine. some can take a week.. sometimes even longer.. just depends.

About the results.. im on quite a few medicines for acne, and mine has never cleared up all the way. Sometimes my face looks better than other times. To me, there is always something, but these things the doctor put on will probally make it a lot better.. if it doesnt clear up alll the way.|||The introduction of lasers, light sources and heat-based technologies mark the first new therapies to treat acne in more than 20 years,%26quot; said Dr. Taub. %26quot;Unlike their systemic counterparts that offer a short-term solution to treating acne by killing acne-causing bacteria, these devices work differently by altering the structure of the oil glands. Studies show that these newer treatments effectively shrink oil glands and, in some cases, even improve acne scarring and overall skin texture. However, the key to increasing their use among dermatologists is fine tuning the existing treatment protocols to ensure success for the majority of acne patients.%26quot;|||Acne treatment may be used by your dermatologist to remove blackheads and whiteheads. Why does my dermatologist have to give me a facial?

i%26#039;ve been having this pimples for quite a while now. but last 2008 till now, It really got worse. i%26#039;ve tried having a facial before(on a clinic in the mall). It really hurts pretty bad and it didn%26#039;t help a bit in clearing my pimples.

Now I already got a dermatologist but she suggested to have a facial again.

P.S Pro-Active Does Not Work!|||there are so many different kinds of facials that cater to a slew of skin problems, but one targeted for acne, and given by a derm, would usually involve extractions as well as maybe some masks, peels, serums, lotions, etc.. an extraction is when the derm basically pops your zits, but in a very sterile fashion that minimizes scarring, infection, and inflammation; usually they use a heated lancet (a super sharp, pointy object). it definitely hurts, but sometimes the results are worth it.

if you have really bad case of acne, like cystic acne, i would leave it up to the derm as they%26#039;ll have the best advice for you and use the highest concentration of treatments which would be most effective. stay away from cheap estheticians--their facials rarely make a big difference, at least in my experience.|||maybe you should ask your dermatologist on this one, not randoms on the internet.

HELP! My first dermatologist visit?

Im suffering from severe acne and acne scars. Its the worst! Ive tried everything! Ive tried a whole bunch of products and none of them have worked. Ive even tried most of the home remedies that are out there. Im really fed up with my skin and i have just decided to have my mom make an appointment for me for the dermatologist. Now, i have some questions.

1. What can i expect on my first visit? What will they do and if there are forms for me to fill out, what questions will they ask on the forms that i have to answer?

2. Does the dermatologist REALLY help get rid of acne/ance scars??

3. Will the dermatologist prescribe products that are out there in the stores such as Nuetrogena or Clean and Clear products or will they prescribe things that they dont sell at the stores such as certain meds and cleansers/creams?

4. Will the dermatologist set up a skin routine for you or will they just give you a product?

5. how often do you have to return to the dermatologist for another visit?

I would really appriciate if you guys could answer these questions for me and plz tell me about any other things that i need to know or will expect from the dermatologist. Thanks to anyone who answers! =)|||1. What can i expect on my first visit? What will they do and if there are forms for me to fill out, what questions will they ask on the forms that i have to answer?

When I went I had to fill out a little form thingy with my dob, where i live ect.

2. Does the dermatologist REALLY help get rid of acne/ance scars??

sometimes, do not relie your life on the products he or she gives you.

3. Will the dermatologist prescribe products that are out there in the stores such as Nuetrogena or Clean and Clear products or will they prescribe things that they dont sell at the stores such as certain meds and cleansers/creams?

a little bit of both :)

4. Will the dermatologist set up a skin routine for you or will they just give you a product?

it depends sometimes they just give you a cream to put on your acne and you continue washing your face with your normal cleanser and sometimes they will give you a whole new routine.

5. how often do you have to return to the dermatologist for another visit?

It doesn%26#039;t matter how many times you want but the usual is every 3 months :)

don%26#039;t be scared i promise it isn%26#039;t that bad :)

How Expensive are dermatologist?

Well guys, I%26#039;ve been really wanting to go to a dermatologist place called %26quot;Advance Dermatology,%26quot; for my face [I have been acne and acne scaring]. it%26#039;s in Texas. It Accepts my mom%26#039;s insurance. It%26#039;s a 40 minute drive there. But my mom just doesn%26#039;t want to go because she say it%26#039;s like $200 Co-Pay or something like that.

Is dermatologists really expensive? How can we work this out? I really think that if I get my face rid of my pimples and scars, I will be more happier.|||with my co pay it%26#039;s only $30 to see a derm, maybe if a derm is too much money for your mom then see your family doctor there is no reason why a family doctor can%26#039;t prescribe oral and topical medications for you.

You will be happier and more confident without pimples on your face. they may start you off with tetricycline and differin as a topical or retin A.

I drive an hour to see my derm every 3months and it%26#039;s worth the drive to keep my face clear, explain to your mom that it will be money well spent. it can%26#039;t be a $200 copay no one has that high of a copay

Is it a dermatologist i need to see?

hey i have quite bad face complexion, spots, dry patches, big pores, patchey. i read somewhere about these people where you go private and they take a realy close up pic of your face and then give you treatments and products to fix all your face problems. i think it was a dermatologist?? also does anyone know where in the uk (pref east mmidlands) where i can find one of these people??|||You need to go to a dermatologist. As far as finding one in the UK - sorry, I can%26#039;t help you with that. Good luck and remember to drink a lot of water, wash your face regularly as well as moisturize.|||You can%26#039;t just book to go see a dermatologist on your own, you have to be referred to by a doctor.

Go see your doctor, tell them the situation and they%26#039;ll get you an appointment with 1.

I did that and it was the best thing that happened to my skin!

I use to have bad acne, and they prescribed me with medication that can%26#039;t be prescribed by the doctor because they%26#039;re so strong, and they work miracles!

Go book an appointment for your gp now!

Good luck.

鈾?|||yes it is a dermatologist you need to see. and no sorry im not from the UK so i dunno anymore info to give you :(|||you do need a dermotoligist to check that out.

also, there might be a dermatologist somewhere in a big city.

so if you live near a big city i guarantee that there will be a dermatologist there.|||hiya just google dermatolagists in your region or near by i.e there should be one at ur local hospital? also be carefulf what face products you use as u dont want to irritate your skin =)|||I the UK it is not easy to see a dermatologist privately and it is expensive I have similer skin to you and would love to go an see a private derm but it cost%26#039;s 拢100 just to see him for a quick consultation. You could try a Sk:n clinic they have clinics all over the UK http://www.sknclinics.co.uk/

I went there but I had a bad experiance as they charged me 拢500 for a course of facial peels and expensive products and it left my skin in an even worse state at the end and also they don%26#039;t keep a proper record of your treatments so in the end they tried to charge me for a peel I hadn%26#039;t had and wouldn%26#039;t return my deposit.

So I don%26#039;t know if I can recommend them as such but I don%26#039;t think you would get the same issue if you actually saw the dermatologist as they are real Dr%26#039;s! Just stay away from the pushy sales consultants.

Also check out the : http://www.bad.org.uk/about/

you can write to them and ask for a list of registered dermatologists in your area and they will send you a list and you can phone round and ask if any has a private practice. Or you could contact your GP to ask for a referral to a private dermatologist.

Also you could try visiting the websites of plastic surgery companys as they might offer various skin treatments.

It is a big loop hole in the UK that it is very hard to see a cosmetic dermatologist outside of London I think in a few years we will see more availability but I fear it will be too late for my skin by then.

Good luck!

Regimen prescribed by dermatologist?

Hi all.

I recently went to my derm and he prescribed me a range of things, if after 3 months they do not work he said I will need ro-accutane.

This is what he prescribed me.

Mornings -

Benzac AC wash, benzoyl peroxide 50mg/g. 5%. This is a face wash that I put on, leave for 30 seconds then wash off.

6% sal acid, 15% prop glycol in 70% alc 200 .

This was a mix the chemist made up, not much on the bottle except for its highly flammable.

I rub this on my face in the morning and it stays on.

Because this stuff has a big dry out effect, he gave me -

redwin sensitive skin sorbolene moisturizer, with 10% plant derived glyerine. I would use this every morning.

Ingredients -

water, glycerin, sorbitol, stearic acid, mineral oil, cetearyl alchol, triethanolamine, triticum vulgare (wheat germ oil)

Nights -

Benzac AC wash, benzoyl peroxide 50mg/g. 5%. This is a face wash that I put on, leave for 30 seconds then wash off.

5% sulphur in calamine lotion. Calamine lotion B.P mixed with 5% sulphur

So yeah thats about it, what do you reckon about that regimin? Anything wrong with it? Any tips etc?

Is the moisturizer good? I%26#039;ve heard moisturizers can be bad for acne, is this one?|||You pay a dermatologist then come online with a run down of what they order for approval? So if I don%26#039;t agree with the doc how much do I get???

If you don%26#039;t trust the dermatologist then why did you go see that particular one. Yeah I am sure that those treatments and all that washing will be drying....so would you prefer to shrivel into a prune? Dry skin is bad for acne....causes more oil production. Did you know that? Think about it for a minute. So the right moisturizer is good then....huh? And who you going to believe about what is right and wrong?

But I will still take $250 for all this. ;-p

Why did my dermatologist make sexual advances at me?

Firstly im 25 and hes about 55, Ive been going to him since i was 15, hes always been a professional-great dermatologist.. So I told him i was interested in getting breast implants and if he could reccomend anyone, he says %26quot;I tell all my escorts to go to this doctor i know%26quot;, I said excuse me? He said %26quot;i have escorts i use who want bigger breasts and i send them to this doctor i know%26quot;

Then he says to me well you have nice breasts, their not big like grapefruits but their nice.

he also told me im 25 and have hit middle age and that im getting old and also that i dont look like i weigh 115 lbs i look like im 130 lbs, I had to write my weight down, and i am 115.

I felt really shocked and then blame myself for asking about the breast implants, maybe its my fault, he thought i was a bimbo?

Why would a doctor who i have been going to since i was 15 do this?

A long time ago he asked me if i shaved everything because i had a hernia he had to remove, i thought it was a weird question but brushe dit aside.|||That%26#039;s not a sexual advance. It doesn%26#039;t sound at all unreasonable or unprofessional. You did ask him about implants, so he%26#039;s talking to you about whether you should get them and what other plastic surgery you might be interested in. Dermatologists particularly deal with appearance issues, so that%26#039;s all shop talk as far as he%26#039;s concerned. As far as the escort thing goes, I think the way he looks at it is that escorts are %26quot;pros%26quot; so any doc that they use must be pretty good. It%26#039;s like referring you to a mechanic that race car drivers use.|||yuk, i%26#039;m not a doctor, but what does dermatology have to do with implants ?|||You%26#039;re the one who brought up the subject of breast implants to a dermatologist. It%26#039;s not like he randomly commented on it. Not to mention, he%26#039;s known you for 10 years, so he felt %26#039;familiar%26#039; enough with you to talk about things like this in a %26#039;matter of fact%26#039; and straightforward manner. And as far as the weight issue...it was only an insult because YOU took it that way. He was merely stating an observation.|||since dermatologists don%26#039;t repair hernias, it%26#039;s obvious that most of what you%26#039;ve said isn%26#039;t true.

sad troll

try again. dermatologists don%26#039;t repair hemorrhoids, either.|||Honestly, It doesn%26#039;t sound like he did or said anything unprofessional. I guess it would depend on how he said it, but it doesnt sound like he did anything wrong, nor you. You asked about implants, and he gave you a referral and said you had nice breasts, which many doctors would say if they did not feel you needed the surgery. Since you have been seeing him so long, he might be concerned about where you are carrying your weight. Your metabolism will begin to slow after 25-30, so it is time to focus on your health. Also, dermatologists are for skin conditions and rashes, limit your visits to him for that and see a protologist if you have a problem with hemeroids again. The best way to find a surgeon is through referrals of people you know who had them and were satisfied with their work, or find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and see his or her work. That is how I found mine,

http://www.drabramson.com/|||because he%26#039;s a creepy unprofessional doctor, and should be reported. you family has the right to be upset, he shouldn%26#039;t talk to any patients like that. Your question for a plastic surgeon referral was justified and he could have gave you a name without any of his personal business.|||I can understand asking a trusted medical professional to refer you to another physician, many people do that, and experts always say to ask your doctor to send you to someone they think is good. There is no reason for him to discuss your weight or to insult you. It%26#039;s not okay that he took you asking his opinion as a reason to talk about his opinion of your breasts, the breasts of his escorts, etc. It wasn%26#039;t a sexual advance, but it was nasty and creepy. I%26#039;ve never heard of a dermatologist doing anything with hemorrhoids or hernias, so that makes me doubt your story. Dermatologists deal only with the skin, he has no reason to deal with your butt, unless you%26#039;ve got a nasty rash there. If this did happen to you, I%26#039;m really sorry you had to go through it, but no one can read this sick man%26#039;s mind to know why he would do such a thing. Just find a new doctor and stop dealing with him altogether. I don%26#039;t know that you would be able to report him, due the fact that it would be your word against his. if this hasn%26#039;t actually happened, what%26#039;s your point in even bringing this up?

Why did my dermatologist ignore my acne scars?

I visited my dermo and he prescribed me 2 things for my face which I%26#039;ve been taking for about 3 months (or more) but hasn%26#039;t changed my appearance at all. In fact, my appearance has worsened.

The picture is sort of repulsing, it repulsed my sister (she said it%26#039;s too bright and my scars don%26#039;t look that disgusting in real life...but that%26#039;s the way my camera took the pictures)

Is becoming a dermatologist too hard or realistic for me? Please read: ?

I really want to become a dermatologist. My Dad is a hand surgeon and tells me that is a great medical specialty. I also think its a pretty interesting field and have always hoped to become a doctor one day.

How hard is it to become a dermatologist though? After medical school, I hear you have to be at the TOP of your class to get into the residency??

I%26#039;m...above average when compared to all students, but in medical school, I think I%26#039;ll BE average.

I have a 4.3 GPA (all A%26#039;s, one B), take all my senior high school courses at a college, and have all the extracurriculars down...but my sat scores SUCK (ahem, I mean..they%26#039;re not that great): CR 710, Math 660, Writing 680.....

so based on how i am now, do you think i have a shot at becoming a dermatologist?|||Dermatology is a very competitive residency. Fortunately for you, you have 4 years before you even have to wory about that. College grades and activities are the only things you have to worry about, and you have a lot of growing and improving of your test taking abilities before the MCAT. I wouldn%26#039;t say your SAT scores suck. I may be wrong, but I believe each section is still scored out of 800. In that case, you are in pretty good shape. If you want to get into Derm, your best shot is going to a top 20 med school, so I recommend you work very hard in college from day 1. Get into research ASAP, do volunteering, etc.|||It really depends on how w

Going to the dermatologist today... What to expect?

Well im going to the dermatologist today for my acne, and I asked my mom what she could do to help. I have really bad acne on my forehead and chin and so I asked my mom to schedule an appointment. My mom said that she is going to prescribe a stronger medicine than I have now because It seems like everything I use doesnt help my skin at all. I have tried about 5 products so now I think its time to see the dermatologist.

My question is... Is she just going to prescribe medicine? Im afraid the medicine isnt going to help too much so is there any treatments that can clear up my face completely? If so, what are estimating prices?

And, since I have severe acne, what should I say to her or ask her? thanks|||You might just die...|||If you don%26#039;t have insurance it will cost you ALOT of money. Umm if you have severe acne she may give you accutane as a last resort.|||she may prescribe topical medication, face wash, pills,

Why did my dermatologist prescribe me the pill with roaccutane?

I have bad %26#039;tissue scars%26#039; on my shoulders that appeared for no reason...they will not go away by themselves and if the roaccutane does not work surgery will be my only option. Just wondering if anyone knows why the dermatologist perscribed the pill, yasmin, with the roaccutane...and also, does anyone know if i can drink while on the roaccutane???|||I really hope your doctor took the time to explain why you need to be on birth control while taking an accutane product. The above post is definitely correct. Birth defects are linked to people taking isotretinoin (brand names are Accutane and Roaccutane) so it is important to not get pregnant during this time. After you finish this product, there shouldn%26#039;t be any problems with birth defects down the road.|||The doctor put you on birth control because of the very high risk of sever birth defects if you were to get pregnant while using the roaccutane. I used accutane years ago and had no side effects. It was very effective.

Serious Question for Dermatologist?

When I was in the 1st grade, I got my ears peirced. The peircing resulted in keloids. I%26#039;m in the 9th grade now, and am interested in getting my ears repeirced, but I%26#039;m afraid I%26#039;m going to get keloids again. I still have the keloids from 1st grade. They are minor and barely noticable (about the size of 1/4 of a dime). I have gotten plenty of normal scars since that haven%26#039;t resulted in keloids. I need the advice of a dermatologist to help me decide wether or not to repierce my ears. I would get the piercings right above the keloids.|||I am not a dermatolgist however I have a friend who has them too and he said that you should %26#039;only%26#039; have a MD pierce them

as they may have a better idea as to where they should be placed - since you have had an existing problem. So ask your family doctor to refer you to one -

They will know where to place the piercing.

What exactly do dermatologist do? And how can they help with your skin problems like acne or blotchyness?

Like what do dermatologist do for you? And what goes on when you visit one? Is it benifical to go to a dermatologist for things like (not severe) acne? i am already using proactiv (have been for over a month) and it hasnt done anything for all the acne i have under the skin, and im extremely pale (naturally) so all of my acne shows up and it hurts half the time. please help if you can.

thanks for all the answers!!|||A dermatologist is a doctor who specializes in conditions of the skin. Since they are a specialist, they are the one you go for skin conditions. When you go to a dermatologist for the first time, you%26#039;ll have to fill out paperwork, before the doctor sees you. You%26#039;ll be taken to a room by his/her assistant %26amp; you may be asked some more questions, as your paperwork is reviewed. The doctor will see you, read the paperwork you filled out, then you%26#039;ll be asked some questions, then your skin condtition will be examined. A diagnosis will be made %26amp; you%26#039;ll no doubt receive a prescription for medication needed to correct the problem. I went to a dermatologist a few times, for dermatitis. The visits were very relaxing %26amp; I liked the doctor %26amp; his staff.

P.S. I haven%26#039;t heard any success stories from people using Proactiv, so you may want to see a dermatologist soon.|||A Dermatologist is a Doctor that specializes in the study and care of the skin...which is the bodies biggest organ. Anyone See A Dermatologist For Hair Loss?

hey everyone , last year at this time i had really good hair, but i dyed it a couple of times and didnt really take good care of my hair and now a year later its falling off little by little and my sides are thinning a bit and you can see my scalp at times even though i have long hair.

So im seeing a dermatologist on thursday to get my scalp evaluated and for any advice from him. My GP told me that I dont DHT because shes been seeing me for a long time and said that its something thats been recent and either my hair was allergic to the dye or some other factor.

Should i ask for a Scalp Biopsy?|||all chemical products will have negative side effects

try something natural like Mira hair oil

Understand that your hair loss may also be genetic in which case not much can be done about it

understand that the Average rate of hair growth us 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch a month- it can be better if you take external and internal steps as I have outlined

year ago my husband suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The %26#039;B%26#039; vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice (you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)

Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for him!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed and Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

Help from a dermatologist? please?

okay..my uncle died from a melonoma thing..idk how to spell it.. cancer.. anyway my parents have been getting anual mole checks and i gotta get one this year just to be safe....but i noticed now recently i have vitiligo on my penis(the shaft).. and i was looking about it and somebody said to get a mole chheck..so im like really scared im gonna have something wrong with me now(something wrong with penis, cancer, something..) uh help|||Don%26#039;t worry! %26quot;Penis cancer%26quot; most likely occurs in men 60 and older. You are only 15, your chance of getting penis cancer is probably .000000001%. If you have HPV, then your chances are increased significantly.

Get a mole check anyways. It%26#039;s probably nothing.

Been to a dermatologist, but still...?

I%26#039;m 17, and I still have an awful acne problem, and my face is a little red because of it. I%26#039;ve tried everything - I use unscented soap, wash my face twice a day (which is kinda hard because my skin is dry and sensitive); I%26#039;ve tried over the counter drugs with 10% and 5% benyzol peroxide in it, and I use non-oily moisturizer. I went to a dermatologist who prescribed tretinoin, but that hasn%26#039;t helped much at all. It%26#039;s quite frustrating. What the heck can I do to make it go away???|||You didn%26#039;t say when you saw the dermatologist. Most acne treatments take months to work. If it hasn%26#039;t been that long, stick with it. I know it%26#039;s distressing to have the condition, but keep working with the dermatologist.|||Don’t eat that — you’ll get zits! We’ve all heard it; from parents, friends or even the family doctor. But the fact is, even after extensive study, scientists have not found a connection between diet and acne. Not chocolate. Not french fries. Not pizza.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, “A healthy diet is important for improving raw materials for healthy skin,” but they also note that greasy or sugary foods do not cause acne.1 Likewise, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association concurred, “Diet plays no role in acne treatment in most patients…even large amounts of certain foods have not clinically exacerbated acne.”1 Of course, that doesn’t mean you should make a habit of eating foods high in sugar or fat. The skin is the body’s largest organ, so what’s good for the rest of you will be good for your skin, too.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Nutrients for healthy skin. There are a number of nutrients found in everyday foods that are known to promote a healthy body — and therefore healthy skin. Get wise to these substances, and you’ll increase your chances of conquering your acne.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Vitamin A. Naturally occurring Vitamin A, or retinol, is found in fish oils, liver and dairy products. The Vitamin A produced by plants is known as Beta-carotene, and is found in yellow/orange fruits and vegetable such as carrots, yams, apricots and cantaloupe, as well as green vegetables like parsley, kale and spinach. Extremely high doses of Vitamin A are toxic, so don%26#039;t overdo it.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Vitamin B-2. Stress has been known to aggravate existing cases of acne, and Vitamin B-2 is often helpful alleviating stress. Foods with a high concentration of B-2 include whole grains, fish, milk, eggs, meat and leafy green vegetables.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Vitamin B-3. Found in peanuts, eggs, avocados, liver and lean meats, Vitamin B-3 improves circulation, promoting healthy skin. It also reduces the cholesterol level in the blood and helps you metabolize protein, sugar %26amp; fat — increasing your energy through proper utilization of food.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Vitamin E. Vitamin E is found in almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, broccoli, wheat germ and vegetable oils. A powerful antioxidant, it protects your cells against the effects of free radicals, which are potentially damaging by-products of the body’s metabolism.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Zinc. Even in trace amounts, the antioxidant zinc is known to boost the immune system, improving overall health — which of course is reflected in the skin. Zinc can be found in eggs, whole grains, nuts and mushrooms.

Acne Prevention %26amp; Diet - Know your own triggers. Since acne is different for everyone, there may be certain foods that cause flare-ups in your skin. Clearly, these foods should be avoided. You may also want to check your vitamin supplements for their iodine content; while normal amounts of iodine have not been shown to affect skin, amounts greater than the RDA of 150 mcg may aggravate your acne.

Overall, use your common sense. Drink lots of water and eat a healthy, balanced diet — but don’t be afraid to indulge your cravings every now and then.|||TETRACYLINE IS A GOD SEND.....BUT PRESCRIPTION ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\

TAKE A PILL AND NO ACNE FORMS

yeah the other answer below me is really good accutane is also really strong

both stop acne from forming but only w/ a prescription|||The correct answer is - there is no correct answer. If there were an acne treatment that worked for everyone, there would only be one acne treatment. Actually, Accutane works for everyone, but you have to go to someone who is willing and able to prescribe it and knows what they%26#039;re doing, and it%26#039;s not necessarily fast. Other than that, it%26#039;s all hit and miss. Don%26#039;t waste your money on ProActiv - you already used benzoyl peroxide, which is all ProActiv is, and you only got irritated by it. It sounds like you have kind of sensitive skin and are putting a lot of irritants on it. Better follow up with the dermatologist and go to step 2.|||Have you tried ProActive? My Brother-in-law had severe acne.....tried proactive and it cleared up - and it has been 7 years since he has had a breakout like before.

edit*** also - over washing and over medicating your face is bad too....

Acne treatment from dermatologist?

I know everything takes time, but I would just like to know that what I%26#039;m doing will eventually lead to good results and I can get back to my life|||Your skin will probably get worse (due to the retinoic acid) during the first month of therapy and then improve after. However, the clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide should make your skin improve after a couple of weeks. There is a combination medication called Benzaclin which contains both benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin, which would reduce your morning medications to one -- but this medicine might have a higher co-pay. Generally, however, it is better for your skin to use fewer medications (if they have the same active ingredients) rather than more medications.

I hope your skin is oily because all of those medications are going to dry out your skin significantly. If your skin is not oily, you will need to apply an oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin at night before the retinoic acid medication. (This is actually recommended for most patients in order to reduce the peeling, redness, and sensitivity caused by retinoids.) You may even need to use an oil-free, sensitive skin moisturizer during the day (maybe Cetaphil). Ask your doctor about using a 1% hydrocortisone cream if the redness and irritation become bothersome.

After two to three months on the retinoic acid, you may be able to be taper off on the other medications -- it just depends on how your skin responds. You should definitely see a transformation in your skin by this point; you are getting pretty aggressive therapy. Good luck!|||Hey Need help,

I used to have acne really bad and know how you feel. One day I was searching for acne cures and crap I found this blog http://www.AcneCuresForLife.blogspot.com haha( I bookmarked it lol )

Anyway I got the acne free product deal he recommends and my acne literally disappeared. It was crazy. The product i bought had a money back guarantee which is kinda cool too. I think it%26#039;s only like $25 or something

Anyway, I hope that helps!

Embarassment at dermatologist office! Don't know what to do.?

I have never seen a female doctor before my male dermatologist was on vacation and a woman was filling in. I had an genital skin rash. She asked me to stand up and drop my pants. She pulled up a stool and began to examine my penis at eye level to her. The feeling of a woman touching me caused an immediate erection. I appologized and she said it was normal. She continued the examine and pulled my foreskin back and i couldn%26#039;t control it and ejaculated! I have never in my life been so embarassed! It went all over her hand, arm and her neck. I appologized repeatedly as she quickly turned grabbed some paper towel and left the exam room. A nurse came a few moments later handed me a damp paper towel and told me to clean up and get dressed as she explained my medication.

What should it do? This can%26#039;t be normal?

I have to see her for another visit next week, do you think she was mad?|||Oh, no, you must feel awful about that! Don%26#039;t worry about it too much; it%26#039;s a natural reaction and you had no control over it, so there%26#039;s no reason to feel bad or guilty. Trust me, doctors have seen/been through a lot worse than that (think about this: at least it didn%26#039;t accidentally go in her mouth or something...). She knows that you%26#039;re embarrassed about it and won%26#039;t be angry or hold it against you. Honestly, I%26#039;d be surprised if she even remembers it next week; doctors have so much stuff to keep track of, they don%26#039;t have time to worry about who made what mess on them. I understand that you feel horrible now, but that feeling will go away eventually.|||I feel awful that you had to go through this extremely embarrasing incident but it is normal for this to happen to males anytime they are touched there-It happens to men who are having a catheter inserted as well as those who are having a prostate exam from a woman. If this is extremely uncomfortable for you then you should see a male Dr.because it could possibly happen again. She is a professional and is aware that this was a normal body reaction and therefor she won%26#039;t be mad at you. She would have had to leave the room to clean up anyway and she probably exited quickly to spare you any further embarassment. Good luck with your rash!

What is the difference between a Cosmetic dermatologist and a regular dermatologist?

I am thinking of becoming a dermatologist (I%26#039;m only in 8th grade though so, I have some time before I choose a career :P). Do cosmetic dermatologists and regular dermatologists make the same amount of money?|||Well, since you have more than 15 years to get to this point it is hard to predict what will be in medicine at that point. Cosmetic dermatologists may or may NOT get reimbursed by insurance companies--most do not cover elective things like this; so its a cash type business %26amp; so your income depends on a number of market forces, billings, malpractice, and office expense. Also, there is very stiff competition in this field from just about anyone with a medical or RN license; so very hard to predict. Usually they do surface type procedures (juvederm, restylane, botox, IPL, laser, peels, that sorta stuff)--no surgical procedures (other than simple office type ones). I would not obsess too much as you will probably make this decision in med school. Best.|||whats a dermatologist??!!

Can a dermatologist really help?

Im 15, I know Im going through the acne ****, but if I go to the dermatologist can they really help, or will they just perscribe some bullshit too me?

I have blemishes all over my face, and little bumps (i think theyre whiteheads or somthing) I wash my face in the morning and night and keep my hands away, but no matter what I still have all this annoying ****

especially these bumps, theyre ****** pissing me off the most because the redness goes away with washing and taking care of my skin, but those bumps wont go away!

anyone help|||Not too long ago I went through the same exact thing as you. I had acne and whiteheads all over my face. I tried everything that you could possibly try at the drugstore and nothing worked so finally i gave up and decided to go to my doctor. My doctor prescribed me 3 different medications. 2 were topical and 1 was oral. One of the topicals was called %26quot;clindamycin phosphate sol 1%%26quot; which my doctor advised me to use every morning and the other was called %26quot;retin-a 0.025% cream%26quot; which she said to use every night, the oral medication is called %26quot;doxycycline hyclate%26quot; which you take once every morning and once every night. the topicals don%26#039;t cost that much and they last you a really, really long time; I%26#039;m still on my first bottles. The oral medication costs about 20 dollars for 100 pills.

The pills basically change your hormones so they take a month before they actually start working but it is so worth it. My face is super clear now and I haven%26#039;t had a pimple for so long. I don%26#039;t think you have to go to your dermatologist, I just went to my doctor. Just write down the names of the acne medications i gave you and ask your doctor if they could help you too. Good luck!

Seeing a dermatologist?

ok so my friend has these red dots type of thing on her stomach and by her boops.. she said they itch whenever its really hot... she%26#039;s been having this for like 3 months already and theyre spreading to other parts of her body. i told her she needs to go see a dermatologist ASAP. but my quest is if she%26#039;ll have any problems cuz she doesnt have a primary doctor.. i mean she never ever goes to the doctor and she wants to go see a dermatologist cuz she%26#039;s a bit scared. but she doesnt know if she%26#039;ll need a referral from a primary doctor to see a dermatologist or if she%26#039;ll get treated. does anyone know?? what should she do?|||I havent been to my doctors office in like 6 years, and when i needed to go to the dermatologist, all i had to do is call them ans make a appt. So ur friend should not need a referral. Good luck %26lt;3|||just look in the phonebook and call the dermatologist and make an appointment. they should treat her...i go once a year on my own and never once had a referral. they had me fill out some paperwork, and where there was a space to write what doctor referred you, i just left it blank and never had any problems.|||She should contact the dermatologist she wants to visit and ask that question to them. I%26#039;m sure if you need a referral they can make arrangements for you to see one of their supporting doctors.

Need a dermatologist to answer!!!!?!?!?

Hi

I had pretty bad skin so my mom took me to see a dermatologist and he put me on Benza Clin which is a benzoyl peroxide gel. I%26#039;m 14 by the way. So I%26#039;m supposed to put in on twice a day but when i went to school it made my skin red and flaky and when the sun touched my skin it got all brown and weird so i started putting it on in only the night. My acne got better but there was still white heads like with no pus just white bumps...there were a few. Now summer has come and some of the acne is coming back. I am not sure when i should stop using this cream but the docter said only two months and its been around 2 3/4 months with the acne coming back. It might have something to do with the hot weather( i liv in norcal) and that i only used the cream at night, half as much as i was supposed to. PLEASE HELP ME! i dont wanna go back to the derm. yet! plz i%26#039;m going to highschool next year i%26#039;m really desperate! no sarcastic comments i really need advice. Thanks ahead of time!|||Not a dermatologist, but I have used nearly every acne medication out there. So, I will answer your question.

First, your acne will return whenever you stop using your medication -- probably for as long as you are in your teen years. Topical medications don%26#039;t %26quot;change%26quot; your skin; they only keep acne at bay as long as you continue using them (unfortunately). The only exception here is Accutane, which can provide long-term relief from acne for many.

BenzaClin (and almost all acne products, but especially those which contain benzoyl peroxide or antibiotics) do make your skin more sensitive to the sun. That%26#039;s a common side effect. You have to wear a sunscreen if you%26#039;re going to spend a lot of time in the sun. Benzoyl peroxide also makes many people%26#039;s skin red and irritated; some people cannot tolerate that side effect.

You need to incorporate an acne wash into your regimen; I would recommend SalAc. It%26#039;s not overly-irritating and does a good job of helping to control acne. It%26#039;s available on Amazon.com, Dermstore.com, and some other websites.

It would seem like the BenzaClin was working well for you; you just needed to use a sunscreen or sunblock when you were in the sun and also utilize and acne wash like SalAc into your regimen. However, if your acne is really bad and you don%26#039;t want to use BenzaClin (or another acne product for years to come), you may want to ask about Accutane. Using any topical acne medication or antibiotic only for a few months and then backing off will always result in the return of acne.

Good luck!

Well guys, I am a victim of pimples, obviously. And I%26#039;ve had it since I was 10, and I%26#039;m 14 now.

I know what you%26#039;re instantly going to think, %26quot;Well, this could be puberty and your hormones acting up-%26quot; Wrong, if that was the situation, my whole school wouldn%26#039;t be filled with kids my age with Celebrity-like clear skin. Sure, they get one pimple, once in a while and they somehow have powers to zap it away without any scaring or red marks.

Seriously, ever since I got it, people treat me different then back when I was in Elementary school. It%26#039;s no smile and %26quot;You%26#039;ll get through it!%26quot; for me, it%26#039;s everyday some kid calling me %26quot;pimple-face,%26quot; bullying me, or talk about to their friends of my condition.

And you%26#039;d be damn surprised over how many kids in this school told me to get Proactiv, I tried that crap, and it didn%26#039;t work!

I have tried everything besides prescription.

I tried: Clear %26amp; Clean, Clerasail, Neutrogena [yes, their creams and soap bars], Oxy, basically, I tried all the over-the-counter stuff, no go.

I am strongly to believe that is because of my genes because my parents and probably their family have acne too.

My acne is the reason of my depression and why I felt like my manhood got ripped into tiny bits and pieces, so please, people of acne.org, help me, I came here for the sole reason of me actually being accepted and not bullied around just because of my face. I want acne to be away from my face, for good! and to never come back again! I also want my acne scars to disappear somehow, pleeeease|||My boyfriend had the same problem when he was in high school. He went to a dermatologist and they gave him a pill and that has kept his acne away for many years without him having to do a thing. Proactive doesn%26#039;t work for everyone. It just depends on your skin type. If your acne is causing you this much distress I would definitely suggest that you see a dermatologist. They can help you get your skin where you want it to be! Good Luck! |||Try Nature%26#039;s Cure they sell it at Wal-mart, it%26#039;s pills that you take everyday and a cream in the package, they make it for girls and boys. I have this problem called %26quot;Smelly Scalp%26quot;. When I told and explained to him about it. You could tell he didn%26#039;t know too much about it. Everything I told him I was using he told me to stop, then when I told him Head%26amp;Shoulders works good, he told me to continue using it. But anyways, he told me to wash my hair everyday! Mind you, I%26#039;m African American. I %26quot;refreshed%26quot; his memory making it clear that I was African American. He said that%26#039;s more of the old generation (ex.he gave:65%26amp;up)

rule. But he said yes, wash my hair everyday...And apparently he didn%26#039;t give me a cure. I said %26quot;so it won%26#039;t make it go away? it%26#039;s just a cover up?%26quot; He said %26quot;it will help it be better but it%26#039;s not going to be like Poof it%26#039;s gone%26quot;. He doesn%26#039;t sound like he knows what he%26#039;s talking about. Since you don%26#039;t have much confidence in him, you should take your advice and go to the bigger city to find a dermatologist. Maybe you could even try finding a dermatologist for African-Americans. Good Luck!!|||You should go to a bigger city and find an African American Dermatologist, or even a younger dermatologist. Maybe this guy knows what he%26#039;s talking about on some things, it doesn%26#039;t sound like you have any confidence in his abilities.

Do what he said, but look around for a different dermatologist.

Going to dermatologist tomorrow for acne... what pill reccomendations?

First off-- Do not tell me ProActive, or any other OTC crap.. thx

(I%26#039;ve tried IT ALL...)

I%26#039;ve tried Duac... it works somewhat, but I don%26#039;t want a benzoyl peroxide topical because they bleach your skin %26amp; I can%26#039;t even use self-tanner or anything to keep a nice glow

I want an oral med.. I%26#039;ve tried somethin before, I think it called Adoxyl or Adoxin, something like that.. but it didn%26#039;t work, at least not fast enough (worked for my sis after 1 1/2 years! not waiting that long...)

I%26#039;m considering asking for Accutane.. I know its a %26quot;last resort%26quot; and I may very well have to get on my knees and beg for it, but I need something that works for real.. I%26#039;m now 22 years old and have acne since like 14.. It would be an amazing feel to not wear makeup one day..

Please let me know your recommendations %26amp; what has worked for you (long term).. . so that I have a fallback to ask for incase my derm refuses accutane... thanks!!|||I was on Bactrim for two years before my derm would let me go to Accutane. It worked pretty well, but just not what I needed.

I%26#039;m about to start my second month of Accutane, and I%26#039;m thrilled. He%26#039;s upping my dosage, so I think my face will probably start to get pretty dry, but I can deal with that. So far my only side effects have been extremely dry lips (keep that chapstick handy) and the inside of my nose has been dry. But my face cleared up instantly - first with the birth control, and then the Accutane.

I%26#039;ve been asking for it for two years, and finally just told him that this was something I needed to do and he, somewhat surprisingly, agreed to start it.

But if he won%26#039;t give you Accutane, I really liked Bactrim. It wasn%26#039;t a complete fix - I don%26#039;t think anything that%26#039;s not really serious is, but it did pretty well. I%26#039;m 20 now and have had acne since I started high school - but not anymore! Love it.

Good luck with your derm - they can be stubborn, but just really explain everything and I%26#039;m sure he%26#039;ll be more understanding.

One more suggestion: I%26#039;ve been using the Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cream Cleanser for a few months now and it%26#039;s been amazing. You might give that a spin with whatever meds he puts you on. Just a suggestion.|||I loved accutane. I waited until I was 32 before I took it and should have done it years ago. I had tried several other medications and nothing compares. You will have some mild side effects, but well worth the results. I have never felt better about my compection in my life. Just to let you know, they do have a generic form called Amnesteem that most insurance companies cover that works almost as well. The doctor will tell you that you may have to go on it again in the future, but for the price, it would be worth it ($150-$200 a month vs. $25 or less for generic a month). It%26#039;s worth looking into. Good luck!|||i have used doxicyclin for 2 years.i got of it slowly in december and do not take it any more. my skin has slowly cleared up.another thing to do would not to take any dairy products at all for 3 months and to see what results you get.i have not had any dairy for 5 months and the results have been pretty amazing.my face has cleared up amazingly thus no need for meds.i take calcium supplements.|||I take doccycylene orally and clindamycin topically. I saw improvement in my skin right away but it hasn%26#039;t totally cleared it up. Doccyclene does make you sensitive to the sun so they%26#039;re going to switch that in April. The dermatologist will try to find the best thing for you with the least side effects. I would trust their judgement.

I agree on the proactive - I tried it - it worked for a couple weeks but ultimately was too harsh for me and ended up making it worse.|||Oh sure, pay the Dr and then ask us for advice for free!|||My doctor put me on Minocycline and I had a bad reaction to it....not skin-wise, but side-effects. I was on it only for a few days...and had to stop. I have heard it works well for acne, blackheads and whiteheads....but everyone reacts differently to it.

Good luck!|||Forget about taking a pill, use Proactive. It%26#039;s better then any pills.|||I highly recommend docycycline. He will know exactly what you are talking about and its also known to get rid of other diseases. Just be aware that females tend to get yeast infection when taking antibiotics. Look it up online:-)

Becoming a dermatologist ?

so.. im a junior %26amp; i definetely want to become a dermatologist but i just dont want to be in college for half my life %26amp; im looking for a lil help from someone whos experiences

so 1. i want to go to rutgers. now what classes would i have to take ? and what do i tell them my major is ? do all future doctors start with the same thing?

2. ive heard of how many people who want to become a doctor, so they go to the carribean because its cheaper %26amp; they study for less years?? does anyone know more about this

so basically i want to know what i need to do to become a dermatologist and what colleges i should be lookin into

thankyouu =]|||You need to go to medical school, which is extremely competitive here in the States. You can major in anything you want, but you will have to take %26quot;pre-med%26quot; classes on top of your major, like biology, chemistry, genetics, etc, to show that you are good at science and can handle the rigors of med school. After med school you will have a couple more years of %26quot;residency%26quot; as a dermatologist intern (not sure how long, each specialty has a different number of years for res.)

The Caribbean schools I think are still four years, and may not be looked upon as favorably when you graduate and go to get a residency or job as a doctor. Good luck.

You should be looking into the best possible colleges you can get into, like Ivy League would be good.

Will a dermatologist prescribe me an acne treatment?

I don%26#039;t have bad acne, but I breakout like every other week. When I break out, I get one to three big pimples in the same area, and there is nothing I can do to make them go away. They last about three or four days. I know a lot of people have acne worse than I do, but I am sick of dealing with pimples. I am in my twenties; I shouldn%26#039;t have acne anymore. I wash my face twice a day and treat pimples with spot treatment, but I still break out. My acne used to be worse when I was a teen, so I used to use comprehensive acne systems like proactive. They did clear up my face to some degree, but they made my face really dry, like to the point of pealing. If I see a dermatologist, o you think they would give me an oral medication, or at least a mild but very effective skin medication? Oh, I also constantly have a number of small pimples on my face, but they aren%26#039;t that bothersome.|||Yes probably. I had moderate acne for awhile, it wasn%26#039;t that bad. And they prescribed me acne medicines, usually pills and/or cremes. Just make sure you really sell it to your dermatologist.|||There%26#039;s no need to go to a doctor for such form of acne.

It%26#039;s almost nothing, unless it is causing scarring and leaving dented marks.

No one can guarantee you an acne free skin even when you start taking medications or not recur when you stop medications seeing good result.

Acne settles on it own and it%26#039;s not necessary that acne should not exist in twenties.People have it in 30%26#039;s and 40%26#039;s.

Diet and lifestyle always makes a difference.|||You sound like you already know a lot on the topic but I will give your question a shot anyway.

First is to see a dermatologist. They may have something new out. Second is stop washing your face so much, let your natural oils come back, they can work again and try to heal problems.|||ok|||I%26#039;ve been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it%26#039;s at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I%26#039;m 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I%26#039;ve ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It%26#039;s unique cause of it%26#039;s herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn%26#039;t work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes.

I have to see her for another visit next week, do you think she was mad?|||i feel bad for you bro. but you%26#039;re probly not the only guy who would. its not uncommon for a male to ejaculate while his penis is being handled by a woman at eye level.|||I%26#039;d go to a different Dr. If it%26#039;s not serious enough that you have to keep the apointment.|||I%26#039;m not a doctor but I babysit for a urologist...a female urologist. She has had this happen to her more times than she can count. She says it%26#039;s embarrassing for both her and her patients but she is use to it. Don%26#039;t worry, you will turn red but try to control yourself a little better and if you feel like it%26#039;s going to happen again, move back or put your hand there to stop it from getting on her!|||damn, that some funny crap right there. You will be the talk of the office. But on the real side im sure you arent the first

Accutane treatment Dermatologist?

Can any doctors or people who finished Accutane help me?

Hi so I decided to go on accutane to treat my break outs and now I am starting my fifth month of accutane. Over the months I have seen some improvements but nothing too dramatic (I still have redness and scarring. And I do occasionally break out) Anyway my dermatologist has been keeping me on the same low dosage for the past 4 months!! it wasn%26#039;t until i complained about me breaking out again till she actually started increasing my dosage... I also hear from other people that their dermatologist kept increasing their dosage every month and now they have ridiculous clear skin

I feel that my dermatologist is keeping me on a low dosage so I can come see her every time so she can make more money! (sorry for any specialist doctors who get offended by this but seriously I am getting aggravated that my skin is not COMPLETELY CLEAR like the before and after pictures I always see)

So my question is:

Q1: Do you think my dermatologist is holding back on me?

Q2: I don%26#039;t know how long she wants me on accutane but... when will I actually have clear skin with no redness!? [ITS MY 5TH MONTH ALREADY]|||I%26#039;m also on my fifth month of accutane. I don%26#039;t know what dosage you%26#039;re on, but if it%26#039;s 30mg/day or less that would be strange, unless you only have mild-moderate acne. The biggest factor in your dosage is your weight, but the severity of your acne could also be a factor. You don%26#039;t necessarily need to have your dosage increased each month, but it depends on what you%26#039;re started out at, I guess. I%26#039;ve been on 50mg/day throughout my entire course (five months). I weigh 50kg and I had severe nodular acne when I started the drug. My skin isn%26#039;t completely clear now, I still have redness and a few small bumps on my cheeks, but I%26#039;m extremely happy with the results I%26#039;ve gotten. Anyhoo, I%26#039;ll do my best to answer your questions...

A1: It%26#039;s hard to say without knowing your actual dosage, weight, and the severity of your acne. If you%26#039;re really getting annoyed with your derm, you could always switch to someone else.

A2: Hopefully you won%26#039;t be on accutane for too much longer. An average course lasts 4-6 months and it can be dangerous to be on the drug for too long of a period. Accutane will do nothing for redness and scars. Some of the redness you have is actually caused by the accutane, as it causes your skin to flush. That will go away when you stop taking the accutane. If you have hyperpigmentation (red marks) left behind from acne, it will fade over time. It could take anywhere from a few weeks to several years for it to fade.|||Accutane is one of the most harmful drugs out there in my opinion. And the acne always comes back worse after you stop. I know because I had two courses with it. Ended up losing my hair too.

If you really want to cure acne for good, you need to do it in a natural manner. Otherwise you could have acne into your adult years like thousands of other people like I did.

If you check out my blog there are numerous ways you can get clear naturally.

CAN THE DERMATOLOGIST HELP ME WITH MY ACNE?

im 17 and ever since i was 15 i never had perfect skin i always have to wake up and see zits on my face. i had it really bad but now not so bad but still alot. i went to the doctor and he prescribed me some acne medication (face wash and gel) its been working a little but when a few zits go away a few more pop up somewhere else. its very frustrating ive lost my confidence. is there anything that the dermatologist can give me that will really get ridof it thx|||Most certainly a dermatologist can help your acne. It could be you need an oral antibiotic and/or stonger topical gel. Accutane is mainly used for severe cystic acne and only after other traditional treatments fail. Good luck.

Oh and by the way. Don%26#039;t pick at those bumps. This can lead to scarring.|||accutane|||After you%26#039;re done with your face wash and what not, you may want to wipe your face down with Witch Hazel solution. I use it and it helps keep my face clear.|||hearing this reminded me of myself. my acne started when i was 14 and i had perfect skin before it. i tried everything, but then came to the realization that if i just visit the dermatologist then i will save money, instead of buying new products each week and wasting money. it was incredibly worth it, my acne is under control, and the dermatologist knows exactly what what type of acne and how to treat it. GO, and you will have clear skin.

Why the dermatologist look for a mole ?

I went to the dermatologist today. I was a bit shy at first because I am a girl and the the dermatologist was a man. Mom was with me the whole time so I was glad she was there. I remove my short so he can see the mole on the back of my holder. He ask me to stand up so he would see it better. He looks around a bit. Then he said to me to drop my jeans so he could see if had a mole on my leg. So I was in my undies then he pull on the back of then to see my lower back. I was a bit shock he think he saw more then my lower back. Later I ask mom why he did pull on my undies and she said he was looking for a mole. What is a mole ?|||they could cause cancer|||It is a little spot you get on your skin or you can just have them from birth. some of them are different colors. doctors look for moles because some of them can be cancer spots. when the doctor thinks it is possible that the mole is cancerous they remove it. it is no big deal though, you can%26#039;t die from skin cancer and 98 percent of the time, nothing was wrong and the mole wasn%26#039;t even cancer. that is what happened to me. hope that helps. : )|||A mole is a raised freckle. We all have melanin in our skin and this is what makes people darker than others. If you are lighter skinned, then its easier to the these %26quot;moles%26quot;. Sometimes moles are a bad thing, cancerous and they have to inspect them and take quick action. Many people go to a dermatologist just for that reason; to get checked over from head to toe for %26quot;moles%26quot;. Too much laying in the sun can be bad for you and then you get the %26quot;moles%26quot; or skin cancer. So this doctor is use to seeing all parts of the body, and its ok as long as your mom is their with you.|||it%26#039;s a little dark spot on your skin. normally it%26#039;s raised a bit|||because moles are a huge indicator of skin cancer. if a mole looks weird it has a huge possibility of being skin cancer. that is why the doctor was so interested in you mole|||A mole is a skin growth. They are normally brown and they can cause cancer.|||A mole is a pigmented spot, a %26quot;beauty mark%26quot; on the body.

The dermatologist was most likely looking for signs on Melanoma (or skin cancer), which is found by finding abnormal looking moles.

Nothing to worry about.|||that was perfectly normal and appropriate.

moles are dark spots on the skin, usually raised.

changes in a mole can indicate skin cancer.|||A mole is a giant freckle, kinda. sometimes they%26#039;re a sign of melanoma which is a type of skin cancer, he%26#039;s probably just being cautious. but everyone has at least one mole don%26#039;t worry|||A mole is a spot on your skin. It can be slightly raised, small or large, light or dark in color. A change in a mole is often the first indicator of skin cancer. If you had a mole on your shoulder, the doctor was just being thorough by looking on the other parts of your body to make sure there weren%26#039;t any others, and if so, that they looked normal. They are usually nothing to worry about. I have had three removed because they looked suspicious, but they turned out to be nothing.|||It%26#039;s a little dark spot or a raised spot of dark skin, like really dark. Sometimes it grows hair, and if it%26#039;s flat it could be called a beauty mark. Sometimes these are a sign of cancer, but usually they%26#039;re healthy.|||A mole starts out as a mere freckle , then gets almost like a bump. They can be anywhere on your body and they are not a disease. They can%26#039;t cause health issues , but sometimes the person has a choice to get it removed or not.I suggest if you have any to get them removed , because they can get annoying. Don%26#039;t be worried about anything.|||Moles are dark spots of skin, also called beauty spots. Normally they%26#039;re fine. However, potentially, skin cancer can start in them, so they need to be checked. Your doctor wasn%26#039;t doing anything bad. I wish my doctor was more on the ball about stuff like that. But he probably should have explained it to you better. That%26#039;s the problem with going to your doctor with parents around; the doctor will probably treat you like your parents kid more than treating you like a patient in your own right.

Please any dermatologist or anyone who knows about skin?

i%26#039;ve started to have tan patches on my hands. They aren%26#039;t equally dispersed. They aren%26#039;t round or in any particular shape. What it looks like is vitiligo but instead of depigmentation there%26#039;s maybe too much? I really have no idea what it is and i want to know whether it could be sign of something more serious because I am going on vacation soon and would like to know if i should see a doctor imediatly.

There are a couple main things about this:

-iregularly shaped like vitiligo

-darker than my normal skin

-it started during the change in season from colder weather to warmer more humid weather... (not sure if its relevant)

-its around the area of my joints on my thumbs and knuckles

-most people whom i%26#039;ve asked have just asked me are you sure its not dirt....so you can picture it better

-its not disgusting or anything just darker, it doesnt itch, nothings peeling or anything

-vitiligo does run in my family, and i%26#039;m still not sure if this could be vitiligo

if anyone has any ideas?|||I don%26#039;t no .BUT GO TO THE DOCTOR PLEASE.|||it could be vitiligo although i see what you mean its darker patches instead of the more common white patches of 0 melanin, i would suggest you go and see a dermatologist and get more accurate answers.

For any Dermatologist out there!?

i am working on a carreer project for school and (i want to be a dermatologist) so if somone that is a dermatologist please help me out:(or if anyone knows the answer to some of these ?%26#039;s)

1. what type of personality characteristics best suit the job?

2. What are some benefits of the job and if you don%26#039;t mind annual salary?

3. what is a typical day like on the job?

4. what type of education and/or special training was required for you to become a dermatologist?

5. what can a high school student do to prepare for the job?|||I%26#039;m actually a junior at a university and I want to be a dermatologist. So I might be able to help out a little bit.

In highschool I did a senior project and I job shadowed a dermatologist.. you might want to look into doing that if at all possible.

Okay so it depends what you plan on taking in college as your major. I went to a university that had a pre-med and I majored in Pre-med chemistry. Then I transfered to another university where they don%26#039;t have a pre-med major.. but I am now majoring in just Chemistry.

Now to go to med school you can major in Biology or Chemistry.. but either one you major in you will still have to take the other courses. You will have to take up to calc 2.. but they recommend taking calc 3. (Calc 3 is actually easier than Calc 2)

Your college should have a list of requirements for whichever major you choose, but remember that you want to go to med school after.. so there%26#039;s alot of requirements for med school beyond Chem and Bio major requirements.

After your 4 years, you can go onto Med School for dermatology. You will have to take the MCATS which is probably the hardest test anyone would have to take. It has a biology part, chemistry part, math part, and one other part I can%26#039;t remember off the top of my head. Plus you need to remember ALOT of med schools won%26#039;t accept anyone with a GPA lower than a 3.8 .. So this is going to be ALOT of work. Make sure your willing to put all the effort into it.

Plus it also depends on what type of dermatologist you want to be.. there%26#039;s the surgical side with plastic surgery and then just a regular dermatologist.

I hoped I helped! Sorry I couldn%26#039;t answer all of you questions.|||ftybmn

I need DERMATOLOGIST advice!!?

Wednesday is my first appt. at a dermatologist. I%26#039;ve had pretty bad acne for 5 years now and nothing has worked and it%26#039;s totally crushed my self-esteem so my mom is finally bringing me to one. I just was curious...

-What happens the first time you go?

-Do you get a prescription automatically?

-Is it typically an acne product that you ingest (like pills?) or just the normal lotion and cleanser?

-How long did it take to work?

-Did it get worse before it got better?

-How often did you have to go back to your dermatologist?

Thanks guys!! :)|||I am in medical school and I want to go into dermatology when I am done. I%26#039;ve been to the dermatologist and also worked with some so I%26#039;ll answer your questions as best as I can:

1. You will go, have a bunch of paperwork to fill out. Then you%26#039;ll meet with the Dermatologist. You%26#039;ll be asked a bunch of questions, try to answer the best you can. While you are there its also a good idea to have the dermatologist do a full-body skin check for skin cancer too (this should be done once a year for every body and doesn%26#039;t take very long)

2. You will probably (not definitely) get a prescription to fill. The doctor might give you samples of medicines too. They will probably also recommend a cleaner like Cetaphil.

3. This depends on the person and the type of acne. You could get both a pill and maybe even a lotion for the morning and a different one for the night. Or you could just get one lotion. This is up to what the doctor sees fit.

4. It may take several weeks to work. Don%26#039;t expect instant results and FOLLOW the directions for the products. Using 3 times the amount of cream will NOT make your skin clear up 3X quicker, it will only make the situation worse and your skin very dry and irritated

5. This depends on your specific situation too. It%26#039;s not uncommon for things to get a little worse before getting better (as your skin adjusts to the medicine and rids itself of the bacteria that are causing your acne). Either way, trust your doctor. You are on the first step to better skin

6. The doctor may want to see you in a month. Maybe sooner depending on the medicine you are given and your condition. Also, if you have some sort of allergic reaction to the medicine make an appointment to go back sooner

Before your appointment try and maybe write down a list of all the questions you have for the doctor so you don%26#039;t forget anything. Remember what I said about the skin check (especially if you have moles or freckles or tan alot). You can ask about product recommendations too. Good luck!|||Make sure when you go in you are assertive. The first time I just let the Doctor do whatever and he prescribed me mild topical cream and then I went back a month later and politely asked for antibiotics and a stronger medicine. That was one year ago and just now is my face finally breakout free (well almost except for the mild one here and there) but I did see a great improvement within 6 weeks after I got hte better stuff. If you get anitbiotics make sure to talk to them about the side effects because since it is almost srping and then summer you probably do not wnat one that is irritatedby sunlight.

My dermo also said that it would get worse before it got better and I honestly do not remember. He said this would happen because that acne was already microscopicly or something .... present and that is why it took some time. Drink plenty of water though if you already don%26#039;t and get plenty of sleep because my face was ten times better when I started making myself get 7 hours of sleep versus 5.

Good luck and Hang in There, underneath those Teenage Mutant Terrorists aka pimples you have gorgeous skin and it is only a matter of time (hopefully shorter than longer) before it shines through!|||The first appointment will be much lengthier then any visits after that. First, they will have to get all your info, including how long you%26#039;ve had skin problems as well as any allergies, etc. Then, you will have to talk to the dermatologist about your skin problems like for instance, is your problem areas the T-zone or do you have acne all over. You may also have to make a detailed list of the types of food you eat (because sometimes acne is more prone when you%26#039;re not eating or drinking healthy) as well as explaining to your derm. the type of medications and products that you have already tried. You may or may not get a prescription automatically, depending on the diagnosis and what your dermatologist thinks about your skin. In most cases, he/she will prescribe you something right away.

The types of products vary. Sometimes, a patient will be given a cream but other times a patient may be given a pill. It depends on insurance, severity of skin, and what your dermatologist feels will be the right treatment for you. I prescribe Accutane for some patient who are willing to put forth the money; It%26#039;s pretty expensive but fully worth the cost. Insurance does not pay for it fully.

What the dermatologist prescribes may take different amounts of time depending on what he/she prescribes for you. Sometimes, a cream may make your skin get worse and then better, other times (if you%26#039;re taking Accutane) you will begin to see slow progress and eventually within 3-6 weeks, see great results.

As I answered, in some cases, some people have had their skin get worse with using the medicine only to get better. The results may seem disappointing in the beginning but things will get better.

Your derm. will schedule appointments with you depending on the time you went to the time that your derm will want to see if what he/she prescribed is effective or not. This can be anywhere from 2-3 months usually to see if there were any positive results. If the medicine is working for you, you will have a refillable prescription and will not have to see the derm. as often.|||The first appointment will be an assessment of your skin. They might ask you questions about your diet and you skin care habits.

What the doctor gives you is completely up to them. My doctor gave me Retin-A for my acne and it%26#039;s worked wonders (it%26#039;s a topical treatment by the way).

In the case of a lot of skin care things- yes. It got absolutely worse before it got better because it dredged everything out from the bottom layers to the surface.

If they%26#039;re concerned about bigger health issues (like if there%26#039;s an underlying cause to your acne or something) you might be advised to come back or if you need repeated in-office treatments (if they recommend a skin resurfacing thing with lasers, peels, etc.). Otherwise, I%26#039;m not really sure why you%26#039;d need to.|||well i had the same problem...i went to the dermatologist for the first time also and she gave me this face wash and some pomade for the night! it worked great...untill i finished it and honestly i got the acne back after that( i had no insurance and it was too expensive) i am now putting aloe vera (100% plant crystal) on my face at night for 15 minutes and it works great...good luck hun!

Can a dermatologist do anything else to treat acne, other than prescribe products? -- If so, what can they do?

Usually dermatologists will tell you to eat a better diet along with a cleanser. SInce your cleanser stopped working after a couple of weeks you might want to try another such as Proactiv or Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Cleanser. I%26#039;ve used both and they both work well. The Proactiv system is a little bit harsher on the skin sometimes and takes a little longer to use since there are three steps. The Neutogena one is pretty easy to use but doesn%26#039;t come with a toner or spot treatment like Proactiv.

Usually eating less sugar helps clear up my face and eating yogurt helps. Stay away from super oily foods and if you do eat them, eat small amounts. Also using a fresh, clean towel to dry your face after washing helps stop the spread of bacteria. Make sure you don%26#039;t wash your face more than 3 times a day, because it can irritate your skin and cause redness. Non-comogenic face products help keep pores unclogged and try to use as little make-up as possible. Using mineral make-up instead of cheap drugstore stuff can also help. A weekly face mask can help clear up skin and improve the texture.|||Go to the dermatologist. They should prescribe some gel/pills that are strong and will help your acne subside.
