Pangolin ( dermatologist) or anybody, i need advice ?

i know you are an anesthesiologist not a dermatologist but you are the only one i know that went to medical school.

i%26#039;ve heard that waxing facial hair makes hair grow back thicker and faster but some people said that it is the opposite.

i dont know what to believe.

is waxing a good solution to upper lip hair ? long term effect ?

can you get a pill that stop facial hair without prescription ?

about ingrown hair , why is it in my country (asia) no one gets ingrown hair but went i came to the US i started getting it. what is the cause ?

i mean, when i went back to my country they rarely know what it is and ask me if i have health problem.

it is the same with cellulite, we dont have it i my country|||Sorry, but I know very little about your problem. It%26#039; is my understanding that waxing and shaving do NOT make hair grow in thicker. We just tend to wax and shave the areas that grow thicker hair.

No pills, I%26#039;m afraid. Laser treatments can drastically reduce hair. It takes a few treatments and may cost a few hundred dollars, but the results are good and last a long time.|||Waxing does not make the hair grow back thicker--it feels that way because the end of the hair is blunt (think what new stubble feels like--rough), whereas hair that has been growing awhile is worn down on the top to a thinner point (=softer). There is no long term effect to waxing. There is also no pill to stop hair growth BUT IPL (intensed pulsed light) can remove hair PERMANENTLY; the darker the hair, the easier it is as the light is attracted to pigment and destroys the hair follicle.

As to cellulite--probably dietary.|||i dunno about the other questions, but i may be able to shed some light on the ingrown hair thing.

see, warm tempretures cause pores on your skin to open up, while in cold weather, they close up.

as far as asia goes (which is not a country) tempretures are warm enough to keep out skin pores open almost year round so hair doesn%26#039;t grow in a closed pore, which is basically what an ingrown hair is.|||I can%26#039;t say a whole lot about your problem with ingrown hairs but the myth about hair growing back thicker and darker after waxing/shaving is just that....a myth. It doesn%26#039;t actually grow back darker or thicker. Your hair growth is strictly determined by your genetic makeup. If this myth were true, why wouldn%26#039;t people with blonde hair have brown hair after many haircuts?

The fact is that many males start shaving their face just at the point when their facial hair starts to develop, so shaving was blamed for the hair growth and darkening. The same is true with women and their legs, etc.

Pills will not work for hair......I suggest waxing or a product like Nair if you are having problems with shaving. Also, laser therapy is a permanent treatment for hair removal but it is also very expensive.
