Can a dermatologist do anything else to treat acne, other than prescribe products? -- If so, what can they do?

Usually dermatologists will tell you to eat a better diet along with a cleanser. SInce your cleanser stopped working after a couple of weeks you might want to try another such as Proactiv or Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Cleanser. I%26#039;ve used both and they both work well. The Proactiv system is a little bit harsher on the skin sometimes and takes a little longer to use since there are three steps. The Neutogena one is pretty easy to use but doesn%26#039;t come with a toner or spot treatment like Proactiv.

Usually eating less sugar helps clear up my face and eating yogurt helps. Stay away from super oily foods and if you do eat them, eat small amounts. Also using a fresh, clean towel to dry your face after washing helps stop the spread of bacteria. Make sure you don%26#039;t wash your face more than 3 times a day, because it can irritate your skin and cause redness. Non-comogenic face products help keep pores unclogged and try to use as little make-up as possible. Using mineral make-up instead of cheap drugstore stuff can also help. A weekly face mask can help clear up skin and improve the texture.|||Go to the dermatologist. They should prescribe some gel/pills that are strong and will help your acne subside.

Drink lots of water

exercise

exfoliate 2x a week

wash 2x a day with cetephil anti-bacterial soap http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a鈥?/a>

use an oil-free moisturizer|||Throughout my years of an on again/off again acne battle I find Neutrogena%26#039;s products have worked better for me than most of the stuff out there, including costly prescriptions and proactiv (though there are people who swear by the stuff it never worked for me much to my chagrin).|||You should the Wave by Netrogena
