so i went on vacation recently to the middle east, sweated alot there due to humidy, never washed my hair often because i was scared of water, gosh was i stupid as hell .
now im back in the usa and im freaking because im losing hair like crazy and today i looked at my bald spot in the back and its growing and my sides are thinning and you can see my scalp. luckily i have long hair so i can cover it, but if i got it cut i would cry because it would be that bad.
so i dont have insurance, but im going to call the dermatologist on monday and try to get booked in asap , what am i looking at the derm on saying on the first visit? is he going to examine my scalp and tell me the issue?
i think its something i may have been allergic to in the middle east or something, im not quite sure but i want it to get fixed or something.
any tips/help?|||My sister went to a dermatologist for her scalp, but not her actual hair. Her scalp was extremely dry and flaky and he gave her some kind of prescription cream for it.|||You should go to a Trichologist not a Dermatologist. Trichologist deals with the scientific study of the health of hair and scalp.|||A dermatologist is skin. A Trichologist is Hair %26#039;doctor%26#039;.. If your worried, Go to a real doctors, Then maybe they can refer you to a Trichologist.|||I have never heard of a dematologist for hair. A dermotoligist is for skin so a hair doctor?? i dont know...|||hello???a dermatologist for a hair??wake up!|||Don%26#039;t listen to these people. All doctors know about hair, they learn it in pre-med and med school before they go off and specialize. Dermatologists know more than many, but you can also just see a regular medical doctor. Hair loss had nothing to do with your scalp except for in very rare occasions, so they will draw blood and run the regular lab tests first. The most common causes of hair loss are thyroid and malnutrition, but whatever it is it is biological, so blood work will be involved.
