What will happen at dermatologist?

hya i have been reffered to a dermatologist from my doctor for a suspicious mole, i also have over 100 moles all over my body. Will the doctor have to check just the suspicious one or will they have to check them all, if so will this involve being naked (hope not). if they do look at them all do they measure them or photograph them, what actually happens, please help me as i have no idea what to expect when i walk through the door, im 26 and from the england if this helps thanks.|||What happens is the doctor will look at it either just the naked eye or special light that looks like a little flash light. Then if it looks suspicious they will do what is called a biopsy. I had one done on the side of my head i admit i was nervous but they give you a little shot which you don%26#039;t even feel and then they remove it. Mine was removed with a scalpel. They do use a little round metal thing to measure it so if they need to go back to the same spot months later they know exactly where it is. Then they send it out which can takes weeks to get the results. Not every mole they say is suspicious is in fact anything at all. Better to be safe than sorry. My mom was recently diagnosed with skin cancer and it was caught in time so please do get this done. And i would suggest getting a female dr. that way you%26#039;ll be more comfortable with showing her where a certain mole might be. Believe me i had a bad appointment with a male derm and i got rid of him right away. Either way if they do find something and it isn%26#039;t good or if skin cancer runs in your family they tend to do full body checks and be more careful.|||I go to the dermatologist every 6 months. Nothing bad will happen, they would like you to dress just in knickers and bra to check all your moles over your body, they will use a magnifying glass to check the mole thoroughly for any suspicious colours, or scabbing, etc. You may not see it on the outside, but you can in the inside, which is why they do that. If they check for a mole that%26#039;s a little suspicious, they will cut it off, they use a freezing nitrogen injection (hurts a little) and cut the mole and send it off for a biopsy. If you think your moles have been changing, they will take a picture of them and measure it and tell you to come back in a month%26#039;s time to see for any changes that needs evaluating. Seriously, it%26#039;s not that bad :)|||i went to a dermatologist for acne problems and they checked out all my moles. yes i had to reveal some skin but they had a female nurse be present.(I have a mole under my boob and a birthmark on my butt) then i had a mole removed from my scalp b/c it was suddenly bothering me. they numb the area and use like this cookie cutter type tool to take it off. didn%26#039;t hurt none at all. its not a big deal. no worries.

dont be afraid to ask for a female nurse to be present if needed. sorry not sure if your female or not....
